Each section is 1.5mm steel with a black coating for outdoor use. It comes with seven 100mm spikes, so you hammer it in rather than dig a trench. The ends interlock, so you join metre after metre, and the steel bends enough to follow a curve or a slope.

How high does it sit?
The face is 100mm. Set it with most of the face below ground for a subtle line, or leave more showing to hold back a raised bed of bark or stone.

One 1075mm section that covers one metre once the 75mm interlock overlaps the next, plus seven 100mm spikes. Each length weighs about 1.6kg.
How do I install it?
Mark your line, stand the section on it, and drive the spikes in with a rubber mallet. Slot the next section into the overlap and carry on. No digging needed in normal soil.
Can it follow a curve?
Yes. The steel bends to follow a curve or ride over a change in level. It also holds a dead straight line if that is what you want.
Can I cut it?
Yes. For a short run, measure what you need and cut with an angle grinder or hacksaw. Wear gloves and eye protection and file the cut smooth.
What is it made of?

Which specs should I check before I buy?

How do I work out how many metres I need?
Measure the edge and round up to the next metre. The overlap is already allowed for, so one section equals one metre. Add a little for corners, then check your basket before paying.
Can I order more than one metre?
Yes. Set the quantity to the number of metres you need, on this page or in your basket.
Will it suit every garden?
It holds fast in all normal soils. Very rocky ground can stop a spike, so you may need to shift the section slightly or lift a stone out. If you are unsure, send us a photo and your measurements before you order.
How should I prepare the ground?
Mark your line with string, clear weeds and loose stones, and check for shallow pipes or cables before you drive spikes in.
Any safety tips while fitting it?
Wear gloves and sturdy footwear, use a rubber mallet rather than a steel hammer so the coating stays intact, and keep kids and pets clear while you hammer.
What if the ground is hard or stony?
Water the line the day before so the soil is softer, and move the section a few centimetres if a spike hits a rock. Do not force it, the spike or the face will bend.
Can I use it as a retaining wall?
No. It will hold back a shallow bed of bark or stone, but it is a garden edge, not a retaining wall. It is not load bearing.
How do I look after it?
Nothing much. Knock off soil now and then and check the sections are still locked together after heavy rain or frost.
Can I check it will suit my garden before I buy?

What if it arrives damaged or wrong?
Contact us with your order reference and photos where useful. Under the Consumer Protection Act, goods that fail the required quality standards within six months of delivery can be returned at our risk and expense for repair, replacement or refund. No change-of-mind deduction applies.
Can I cancel before it ships?
Contact support as soon as possible. The voluntary cancellation policy accepts requests within 12 hours and before shipment, with a 12.5% processing fee where the law allows it. Your ECTA and CPA rights are not reduced.

Steel edging is what landscapers use when the line has to stay put. This one is heavy gauge, black coated, and it hammers in on spikes. Once it is in, grass runners cannot cross it, bark stays in the bed, and the edge you cut today is still the edge in five years.

How to fit it
Mark your line with string and clear weeds and loose stones.
Check for shallow pipes or cables before you drive spikes in.
Stand the first section on the line and drive the spikes in with a rubber mallet. A steel hammer marks the coating.
Slot the next section into the 75mm overlap and drive its spikes in. Carry on along the line.
For a curve, bend the section as you go. For a slope, let it follow the ground. For a short run, cut with a grinder or hacksaw and file the edge.
Hammer the face in as well as the spikes if you want a full barrier against grass runners.

Is it right for the job?
If you want the rusted look, the corten edging is the same section in weathering steel, with a 150mm option. If the edge runs beside pale pavers and you want no risk of marks, the stainless edging stays bright. If the line is all tight curves, the flexible plastic edging bends further. For a straight black line that lasts, this is the one.
Looking after it
Knock off soil now and then and check the sections are still locked together after a hard frost. If the coating ever scuffs through, a dab of rust-resistant black paint sorts it.
