Follow the curve of your garden, no digging.

Flexible recycled-plastic edging in 5cm or 10cm face heights, sold by the metre with spikes included. Bends to any shape and pins down in minutes.

Most gardens are not straight. This edging is not either. It bends to follow a winding path, a round bed or a lawn that curves past the deck, and it pins down with spikes instead of a trench.

It is 100% recycled plastic, light to handle and happy outside. Every metre comes with three spikes, and every 10m gets a joiner. Cut it with garden shears, pull it up and move it if you change your mind. Pick 5cm for a neat lawn line or 10cm to hold back gravel or bark.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this edging for?

Holding a clean line between lawn and bed, or between a path and the garden, especially where the line curves. It keeps gravel, stone, bark or turf on its own side.

Which height should I pick?

5cm is the everyday choice for a lawn edge. Go to 10cm when you are holding back a deeper layer of gravel, river rock or bark, or want more face showing.

What comes in the box?

The edging you ordered, three spikes for every metre and one joiner for every 10m. Need more spikes for a curvy run or soft ground? Extra spike packs are sold separately.

How do I install it?

Mark your line, lay the edging along it, and tap a spike through every 30cm or so with a rubber mallet. No trench, no digging, no landscaper.

Does it do tight curves?

Yes. It bends to any curved path, lawn or bed. Add a spike or two on the tight parts so it holds the shape.

Can I cut it?

Yes. Measure what you need and cut it with garden shears. Join two lengths with a joiner.

What is it made of?

100% recycled plastic. Light, flexible and made for outdoor garden use.

How much does it cost?

5cm: R190; 10cm: R250 per metre. Delivery is free once your order is R750 or more. Under that it is a flat R250.

Are there other sizes or options?

Two face heights. Pick the height before you add it to your basket and the price updates.

What do the photos show?

The edging in place along beds, paths and gravel so you can judge the look. Plants, pots and garden props are not included.

Which specs should I check before I buy?

Face height (5cm or 10cm), that it is sold per metre, and the three spikes per metre included. If anything is unclear, ask us first.

How do I work out how many metres I need?

Measure the edge, following the curve, and round up to the next metre. Add a little for cuts, then check your basket before paying.

Can I order more than one metre?

Yes. Set the quantity to the number of metres you need, on this page or in your basket.

Will it work around a gravel bed?

Yes. It is a common choice for gravel and river rock beds around a house, and for separating turf from stone.

Will the spikes go into hard clay?

Yes, with a rubber mallet. They will not go through rock, so shift the spike hole to miss a stone or lift the stone out.

How should I prepare the ground?

Mark your line, clear weeds and loose stones, and check for shallow pipes or cables before you tap spikes in.

Any safety tips while fitting it?

Wear gloves and sturdy footwear, use a rubber mallet, and keep kids and pets clear while you hammer.

Can I use it as a retaining edge?

No. The 10cm face holds back a shallow layer of gravel or bark, but it is a garden edge, not a retaining wall.

How do I look after it?

Nothing much. Check the spikes are still firm after a hard frost or heavy rain and tap any loose ones back in.

Can I check it will suit my garden before I buy?

Yes. Send us the measurements, a photo of the edge and what you have there now, and we will tell you straight which height to go for.

Is the price in rand?

Yes. Product prices and checkout totals are in rand.

What does delivery cost?

Delivery is free when the goods total after any discount is R750 or more. Otherwise the express-delivery charge is R250.

How long does delivery take?

Allow 24-48 hours for handling, then an estimated 5-7 days in transit. These are estimates, not a promised arrival date.

Can I use the valued-customer code?

Yes. It takes 15% off the goods. Delivery is not discounted, and free delivery is worked out on the discounted goods total.

How do I track my order?

Use the Order Tracking page with the details we send after dispatch. If anything looks stuck, email us with your order reference.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Yes, within 15 days of purchase for an unused stock item in original resaleable condition with proof of purchase. An R300 packing and handling deduction and return postage apply where the law allows it. The 7-day ECTA cooling-off right and your CPA rights are separate and are never reduced by our policy.

What if it arrives damaged or wrong?

Contact us with your order reference and photos where useful. Under the Consumer Protection Act, goods that fail the required quality standards within six months of delivery can be returned at our risk and expense for repair, replacement or refund. No change-of-mind deduction applies.

Can I cancel before it ships?

Contact support as soon as possible. The voluntary cancellation policy accepts requests within 12 hours and before shipment, with a 12.5% processing fee where the law allows it. Your ECTA and CPA rights are not reduced.

I have a big project. Can you help?

Yes. Use the wholesale enquiry page and tell us the products, quantities and your delivery postcode.

Where do I get help?

Email support@lawnedge.co.za or use the Contact page. Include the product name and your question, plus your order reference if you have one.

Flexible edging: the complete guide

4 min read Lawn Edge South Africa

If you have ever tried to make steel edging follow a tight curve, you know why this exists. Flexible plastic edging bends to any line you can draw with a hose on the lawn, and it goes in with spikes and a mallet rather than a spade.

Sizes and specifications

Two face heights, otherwise the same edging.

5cm face height

  • 100% recycled plastic, sold by the metre
  • Three spikes per metre included in every order

10cm face height

  • 100% recycled plastic, sold by the metre
  • Three spikes per metre included in every order

Joining long lengths

One joiner is included for every 10m you order. Slide the ends into the joiner and spike either side.

How to fit it

  1. Lay a hose or rope along the line you want and adjust it until it looks right.
  2. Clear weeds and loose stones along the line and check for shallow pipes or cables.
  3. Lay the edging along the line. On a tight curve, let it find its own shape before you pin it.
  4. Tap a spike through the edging every 30cm or so with a rubber mallet. Add a spike on each side of a tight bend.
  5. Cut to length with garden shears. Join two lengths with a joiner.
  6. Backfill soil, bark or gravel against the edging to lock it in.

Curvy run or soft ground? Order a pack of extra spikes and pin it every 20cm instead.

Where it works

Around a curved bed. Along a winding path. Around a gravel or river-rock bed beside the house, where the 10cm face keeps the stone in. Between turf and bark. It edges any material, including gravel, stone and turf, and it can be lifted and re-laid if the garden changes.

Hard clay and rocks

The spikes go into hard clay with a mallet. They will not go through rock. If a spike stops, move it a few centimetres to miss the stone, or lift the stone out if it is small enough. Watering the line the day before makes everything easier.

Is it right for the job?

For a dead straight line that will never move, the black steel edging is heavier and holds firmer. For a stone look, see the stone-effect borders. For curves, gravel beds and anything you might want to move later, this is the one.

Looking after it

Check the spikes are still firm after a hard frost or heavy rain and tap any loose ones back in. That is the whole job.
